DESCRIPTION:Visit a world-class pathology collection featuring 1500 wet-preserved human tissue specimens with a presentation from museum staff. \nThe Museum of Human Disease is a world-class pathology collection of 1500 wet-preserved human tissue specimens\, including examples of both infectious and non-infectious diseases.\nThe museum not only assists in the teaching of UNSW’s medicine and science students but also sees over 9000 high school biology students each year – generally about 40% of all HSC Biology students in New South Wales. They are also available as a valuable resource to the public to explore issues in personal and public health. \nDate: Wednesday 10th July \nTime: From 6pm \nLocation: Museum of Human Disease\, Ground Floor Samuels Building\, UNSW\, Sydney \nPrice: Free for members. $10 for non-members. SUMMARY:WA Branch Seminar - Incorporating Indigenous Sovereignty in Forensic Anthropology: A view from Aotearoa New Zealand
DESCRIPTION:In this June Seminar we will be joined by Dr Angela Clark\, who will explore the intersection of indigenous knowledge and data sovereignty in the forensic analysis of human skeletal remains through the use of advanced 3D digital imaging technologies. Drawing on both qualitative and quantitative research from Aotearoa New Zealand\, she will examine the ethical considerations and scientific advancements that these methodologies bring to the field\, highlighting their potential to enhance cultural responsiveness and inclusivity in forensic practice. \nDr Angela Clark is a forensic anthropologist based in Aotearoa New Zealand\, with over two decades of expertise in human skeletal remains analysis. Her expertise includes bone trauma and the effects of burial and water environments. Dr Clark actively engages in casework\, commonly working with New Zealand Police and Forensic Pathologists. \nAll are welcome on Monday July 15th at the UWA Crawley Campus – ECON 373 Conference Room.
