WA Branch Student Group Spotlights Forensic Research
On Monday 15th May, the WA Branch Student Representatives hosted their first event on ‘Research in Forensic Science’. Over 60 people gathered at the State Library to hear about the fascinating forensic research being led by Western Australian universities.
Representatives Maddison Bourke (University of Western Australia), Lilijana Nicholls (Murdoch University) and Aaron Horrocks (Curtin University) each shared a glimpse of their own study pathways and current projects in forensic science. During the social part of the evening, our reps were surrounded by an eager crowd of students excited to learn more about options for pursuing forensic studies, along with ANZFSS members keen to meet the next generation of forensic researchers.
The Student Representative Group (SRG) was established by the WA Branch in 2020 as a way of boosting student interest and involvement with the ANZFSS. One of their highly successful initiatives has been creation of the Forensic Student Collective, an online group connecting students across WA (and beyond!) with an interest in forensic science.
