Code of Professional Practice

Forensic practitioners who are members of the ANZFSS are bound by a Code of Professional Practice. The intent of this Code is to provide a clear and concise summary of the professional roles and responsibilities of forensic practitioners to 1) society, 2) clients and/or employers and 3) in general. Practitioners also have responsibilities to the justice system, and it is expected these are addressed by the relevant judicial codes in the jurisdiction in which the practitioner works.

The Code was endorsed at the ANZFSS AGM on 4 September 2014 in conjunction with Version 6 of the Rules of Association that state:

11      Code of Professional Practice

(1)     The Society shall adopt the Society Code of Professional Practice.

(2)     All Life, Professional and General Members appearing as expert witnesses will, in addition, comply with the court codes or guides for expert witnesses for the relevant jurisdiction.
