A lot has changed in the 100+ years since the emergence of ‘modern’ forensic handwriting examination, for example:
- Ballpoint pens (and a plethora of other writing implements) are now widely accessible.
- Criticisms were raised about the reliability and validity of the field, and research undertaken.
- Digital technology has replaced handwriting in many areas.
So where does that leave forensic handwriting examination now? Is handwriting dead? Are ‘computers’ taking over? What does your handwriting say about you?
In this presentation, Dr Carolyne Bird (Forensic Science SA) will share insights and dispel myths about the art and science of forensic handwriting examination, drawing from over 20 years’ experience in the field.
